A specialized cadaveric workshop focused on the C-nail surgical technique was held at the university hospital LUKS.
The surgical technique demonstration was led by Martin Pompach from the Department of Trauma Surgery at Pardubická nemocnice, who has performed more than 450 procedures using this method. This was followed by an independent cadaveric C-nail procedure performed by Chief Physician Dr. M. Köppel, utilizing a calcaneal distractor, with the entire procedure carried out under intraoperative CT control.
The attending calcaneal fracture specialists (Dr. Köppel and Dr. Rausch) expressed clear professional recognition of the demonstrated technique and strong interest in its practical application. Particular attention was drawn to the calcaneal distractor and its contribution to more precise and technically simplified fracture reduction via the sinus tarsi approach.
LUKS is among the leading university healthcare institutions in Switzerland and represents a key center for trauma surgery, orthopedics, and emergency medicine in central Switzerland, with a strong focus on advanced technologies, education, and clinical research.
